Welcome to At The Crossroads. We are a small group of individuals who are passionately interested in how history moves in repetitive patterns. Each time we return to a crossroads, we have a choice. We can either repeat the same patterns of the past, leading us in a direction of familiarity, or we can make a different choice. My name is Cat Thompson. My personal work in the Emotional Intelligence field has shown me that choice is a powerful emotional trigger. We fear what we do not know. If we cannot imagine a better outcome, we will often choose what is familiar, even if we know it will lead us in a direction with undesirable consequences. It takes courage to change our perspectives and choose a new path. It takes even more courage to believe in that path when our belief is the only thing moving us to our desired outcome. At The Crossroads will be traveling around asking people, what is your vision for a sustainable local economy? How can we provide meaningful work yet restore and maintain our beautiful natural environment? How can we move beyond jobs vs resources, and vision a land where nature's magnificence is not compromised for our basic needs? Each short film will focus on an area and a crossroads. We believe the collective wisdom of "We the People" will provide the inspiration and guidance for sound decision and policy at a crucial time. All over this country, individuals are nurturing great ideas. Like mother hens, they have been carefully incubating creative nuggets. We invite you to bring your innovative thoughts to our town hall meetings and reveal them to our cameras.
